They called him the “Darling of Loftus” but anyone who has the privilege of watching a game at Newlands will testify to the fact that whenever he touches the ball the roof comes off the place. He is a superstar and his try on the weekend confirmed that he has not lost a single bit of his class. Plus his got some Seriously Stylish, Somewhat Philosophical and Downright Emotional Ballz (like he proved on the weekend) and as Robyn Hobson found out in an exclusive interview with Just Rugby.co.za.

JR – Just Rugby

BH – Bryan Habana

JR: Could you describe yourself in three words:

BH: Fun, loving and energetic.

JR: Big change from Pretoria to Cape Town, you enjoying it down here?

BH: Ah thoroughly enjoying Cape Town so far, it’s been a really good vibe the last couple of months or so been settling in pretty nicely, the people have been unbelievably welcoming, haven’t had any rain in a few months so the weather’s been awesome!

JR: Who’re you rooming with for the season?

BH: At this moment Jaque Fourie. And we not only roommates we’re very close neighbours as well so the move down has been good for both of us.

JR: The craziest thing you’ve ever done?

BH: Craziest thing I’ve ever done… hmmm… probably had a few nights after a game these past few years where we haven’t slept because we were too busy celebrating!

JR: So Bryan here’s something I’ve been dying to know for ages (seriously though)… what is a ruck?

BH: (laughs) A ruck is when two players from either side contest for the ball. Sort of like a mini-scrum. (Ed – Well if Robyn listens to the advice on scrumming given to her by Jimmy Cowan, which was similar to a Malema explanation, then this is bloody marvelous!)

Have you ever…

JR: Cried during a movie?

BH: Yeah I have when I was younger. A movie called Honey, I Shrunk The Kids. I cried when they killed the ants!

JR: Had your heart broken?

BH: Not yet I’ve only been in love once and I ended up marrying the girl.

JR: Your biggest fear?

BH: It has to definitely be not using the talent I’ve been blessed with.

Well that’s that then. Another week and another episode of Robyn’s Stylish Ballz. Watch this space for more hard-hitting analysis from our woman in the field!
